Insert and removal
To insert:
1. Squeeze the rim in the middle to form an “8” shape and maintain the string in the front.
2. Insert the disc into the vaginal canal.
Tip: Add a drop of water-based lubricant to the rim can make insertion more comfortable.
3. Push the disc to the end until you feel that it's positioned under your cervix.
4. Push the front of the rim upwards to fix it behind the pubic bone. The top of the silicone string will stay out of the entrance of the vagina.
To remove:
1. Hold the top of the string and push it out very slowly .
2. The rim of the disc will slip off the pubic bone and line up with the entrance of the vagina.
3. You just hold the rim and push the disc out slowly and gently.
Tip:
If possible, rinse your Lumma Disc with cold water after each removal to help prevent stains setting in. If you're not near a tap, it’s fine to simply wipe out your disc with toilet paper and reinsert until you can rinse it.
At the end of your cycle sanitise your Disc so it's ready next time you need it. Store it in a dry place out of direct sunlight.
A Note about Self-emptying
Every menstrual disc can empty itself as you are bearing down on your pelvic muscles for some users when you pee. This can be handy on heavy days! For most users, it will re-tuck itself automatically. If not, simply re-tuck the disc by pushing the front rim behind the pubic bone to ensure that it is securely placed.
Caution
- Don’t push out the string with excessive strength, it may break.
- If you like you can cut a part of the string to shorten it or you can cut it all and use the disc without the string if you prefer.
Warnings
- For the best results, please follow the instructions.
- Consult your doctor if you are using an intrauterine device (IUD). While uncommon, there is a risk of dislodging, displacing or removing the IUD by pulling on the IUD string when removing the Lumma Cup.
- If you have ever had Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS), do not use Lumma Cup or any other internally worn product.
- Immediately following childbirth, gynecological surgery, miscarriage, or termination of pregnancy, consult your physician before using Lumma Cup.
- Maximum wear time is eight (8) hours at a time.
- Lumma Cup is not a contraceptive nor does it protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
- Lumma Cups are not supplied in a sterile state, sterilise your disc before first time use.
- Avoid using alcohol or any kind of corrosive cleansers as well as brushes to clean your cup.
- If you experience any adverse events with Lumma Cup, discontinue use and consult your physician.
